Article Review - The Steve Jobs Nobody Knew by Jeff Goodell

Everyone has their own dark side of their selves. Well, since we are humans, envy and jealousy are a part of our life. From the article, I can understand the writer's resentment towards the late Steve Jobs. However, I think most of what he writes is based on his own personal feelings. Sure, I know he had an abrasive personality, but didn't the writer think that the abrasive personality is what makes the technology we see today? Without his unapologetic brutality, the technology advancements would not be so much better. Although many people had bad memories about him, he still strives to make for better or worse for these people.

Jeff Goodell

None of us knew Steve Jobs personally, but newspapers, tv media and radio think they do. We knew nothing of his life and private thoughts. If we did, we would too be pioneers. Steve Jobs had flaws and human error as every other human on this God given earth. I didn't see a need to print any negativity about him after his death. The fact that he abandoned a child at 23 had nothing to do with us. His religion and his innovations were his right, not ours. Him finding his biological parents only to become distant from his birth father, only he knew the reason. None of these are important to us. To me and in my opinion this is nothing more than gossip. Whatever happened to honoring the dead and paying your respects. I think it's pure garbage to print bad things about a person after death and down right disrespectful.

Steve Jobs is the man in this particular hardware and software stuff and usually, for those who had worked experienced with him will know how he handles the employee. Many of them were led by his abrasive personality and unapologetic brutality like we all know; he used to treat his workers badly. He stomped, he shout and shriek to his employees until driving them to appoint that none of them want to work with him twice! Jobs started changes his attitudes and having problem in anger management when many people said that his temper grows shorter and he starting to treat people around him in bad way. Worst case is when he left his longtime girlfriend when he has a daughter with her. Jobs do not want to give any financial aid to his girlfriend and also give her bad name to mass media as he said in Time in 1983,” 28 percent male population of the United States could be the father “.What a father he is and he continued to deny paternity until the DNA test prove otherwise.

Well, I got to admit, even though he made a great contribution to the technology world, he himself made a controversy to his daily life, where he prioritize his technology more so than his own daughter. Even though he is a control freak, I personally think that it is a good thing. He believed himself to be right rather than the customer. Even if consumer might be protested against him, but I, as a consumer will stood for him. Why? Because, I think by being true to your own intuition, we can get the final product taht is much better. many people seems unsatisfied with his "control freak" personality. To me, by being a control freak, it is what that made one’s achievement great. His perfectionist side is also what made his inventions seems flawless. He introduced many updates and security measures that made the Apple Company well known for its products. Steve Job is actually a megalomaniac and often demanding for perfection and originality in any creation. He believes that he was right but not believes with the consumer’s right. Jobs mention that his Apple Company can do anything to achieve success. Well….let just say his right as Apple brand seems to be around the world and coveted by many nowadays. Look around the advertisement nowadays, Apple here, Apple that, I bet if you look around you will find that most tech users nowadays prefer Apple brand than others. Sure, Steve Job maybe a rough guy to work with but he is sure to have proven quality over quantity which most big company like Sony and Samsung striving to achieve bigger name, Steve Jobs create his name and Apple name to prove that he is a lot equal than others.

Even though Steve Jobs had many flaws in his life, he strives to make a better technology for the future generations. All of you who condemned him, should let it all go. He has passed to another life, talking about his mistakes won’t change anything. Let him rest in peace. Nobody is perfect.

Thinking Folly by Eckhart Tolle

The article, “Thinking Folly” is a piece of writing that exposes how the manners of thinking touch the quality of people’s attitude. The extract by Eckhart Tolle also highlighted some magnitudes of creative thinking and what kind of barriers or grounds that seizes in our minds. Everyone lives in a state of ostensible detach in complicated world of divergence and dilemmas. When people think, an opaque screen of concepts would be created which means that the illusion of separateness between people themselves would be exist. Thus, all the judgments, labels and words that block the true relationship will be divided into few bonds. They are people and themselves, people and nature, and people and God. Mind is just like a survival machine. It does a lot of things such analyzing, storing, gathering information and attack or defense again another minds.  He wrote that the thinker, which he meant all of us humans live in a separate world and apparently not as friendly as we may assume because our thinking is filled with insanely complex world of continuous conflict and problems like an infinite twilight zone and represent the ever increasing fragmentation of the mind. I would say that Tolle is right because as a thinker, making a decision and being indecisive is always a part of our mind venturing into the unknown.

Conflict and problem infinitely cycles into our daily life create an illusion of separateness that makes us thinker felt not believing into reality although life is happening right in front of us. According to the figure as shown in the excerpt “Thinking Folly”, Albert Einstein posed himself by sticking out his tongue towards the camera. This picture is showing that he was trying to portray himself as an astute clown which means the smart “ass” clown. Although he often used a sense of humor during his pose or his conversation, yet he stills a genius. Besides that, Einstein did apprise the readers to think out of the box. It is because the caption of the picture has clearly stated that “Imagination is important than knowledge”. Rather than that, based on his working method, “plays only a subordinate part in the brief decisive phase of the creative act itself”. Einstein himself was trying to highlight that fun and plays are a part of creative mind thinking.
Creative is said to come in a still mind and can be achieve in a quiet state of mind. So if you’re a heavy thinker, STOP it because you’re losing all your creativity! Though said, the mind carries a freedom that one can’t stop and having realized you are not on your on shadow make you wake up from the deep mind slumber. Typically, when people did not think sensibly in any matter of problems or situations, they will become the toil of their psyche all at once. Therefore, I sure enough to support and agree wtih Eckhart Tolle based on his excerpt, "Thinking Folly".

The Jews and their Deceits

A great leader and a revolutionary man Adolf Hitler was. Although many consider him as the most evil man in the 20th century, he has proven him self to be a great leader and his vision of racial supremacy. This article talks about his ideas about the Jewish people and the reason for the mass genocide of Jews during the second world war. After reading this article, i can understand why Hitler despise Jews so much. In the article he said that the Jews are master of concealing their true intention when it come to obtaining power and credit. the Jews learn to hide their thought and telling us what we wanted to here. so it seems that the Jews are wearing masks.

The Jews are pulling a shroud over our eyes in order to distract us so they can take what they desire.
In this modern era, we can see that The Jews are still up to their old tricks. For years now the Israeli have been oppressing the people of Palestine. They push the Palestine out of their land and claim the land as their own.
In my opinion, during the second world war, many powers of the world fail to realize this behavior of the Jews and even now they are still blinded by the Jews tricks.
In the article, Adolf Hitler labeled the Jews as leeches. It is only fitting that the Jews are refer in that manner as they behave like parasite. in the article, Hitler said that the Jews would use wisdom and knowledge of other people to further their own cause.in Germany before the war, Jews would take Germans with the skills and creativity that the Jews lacked, to come to work for them. They will find a way a way to take our work and make it their own.

This article makes me have second thought about the cruelty of Adolf Hitler during his reign. although i agree that genocide is never right even to our greatest enemy, i can understand what was in Hitlers mind during the war. Adolf Hitler saw the true behavior of the Jews and did what he thought was right.

the degree of happiness

I find this article written by Betard Russell very interesting. by reading the article, i am able to understand what Russell is trying to convey which is happiness has two different side.the two sort of happiness is one that is open to any human being and the other one is specifically only for those who can read or write. The happiness that is for any human being means that one does not depend on intellectual source or even need to be based natural law beliefs or any of the fad, fashion and creeds that these who are intellectual need in order tho be happy. In other words, one does not need to be intelligent to be happy. I can see this in many people in the world especially the indigenous tribe of the world. They do not have the knowhow to create advance technology but there are still happy with their traditional way of life.

The other type of happiness if based on intelligence as the road to happiness.According the Russell, these people during 1872, the scientist or people of science were happier compare to artist. The reason for this is that people of science are emotionally simple and are satisfy with their work so they can derive pleasure from eating and even marrying.when i think about it it still make sense as in the modern world, those who have high education and are intellectual are usually more happy due to their wealth and success. But in Russell's time, artist have more complex emotional. Therefore it is harder for them to find pleasure in their work.

Goleman's "theory" of mind

Two Brains Equals Two Minds Because Goleman's "theory" of mind is based strictly on his interpretations of data from brain research, he comes to some questionable conclusions about the mind. If there is a good reason to think of the human mind having "two brains" or "two minds," then it is to delineate the difference between our egocentric drives (with accompanying egocentric thoughts and emotions) and our rational drives (with accompanying rational thoughts and emotions). Goleman says that the emotional mind is quicker than the rational, or thinking mind, springing into action without pausing even a moment to consider what it is doing.
Equating the "Thinking Mind" with the "Rational Mind" Because of Goleman's initial distinction between the "Thinking Mind" and the "Emotional Mind," he is led into a number of problems, as I have suggested. A more realistic theory of mind would thus delineate not the "emotional mind" from the "rational mind," but the "rational mind" (with its related emotional component) and the "irrational mind" (with its related emotional component). On the other hand, Goleman states, "Our emotions have a mind of their own, one which can hold views quite independently of our rational mind ."

This statement seems to mean that emotions can somehow think for themselves, rather than that the emotional mind uses the thinking mind (which, remember Goleman equates with the "rational mind") to serve its purposes. ," we are unclear as to whether, in Goleman's view, the emotional mind thinks for itself, or whether it uses the thinking mind to think for it. It seems to me that Goleman's concept of "emotional hijacking" implies that when we experience highly intense emotions, those emotions drive our thinking (or lead us to action prior to thinking). Most importantly, we must come to terms with those truths about the human mind that enable us to begin the process of taking charge of our minds: that thoughts and emotions are inextricably bound, that we have both egocentric and rational tendencies, that our inner conflicts are never best understood as a simple matter between emotion and reason, that self-command of mind takes both extended education and self-discipline, that our fullest rational development is dependent on the development of rational affect, that to bring intelligence to bear upon emotions we must take charge of the thinking underlying those emotions.
